We are on a mission to create authentic human experiences and brands to leverage social impact.
This decade, the world has established an ambitious target to accomplish the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. SR Curio’s mission to create authentic human experiences and brands to leverage social impact is our collective effort as a team to help achieve this mission as a partner alongside our board’s direction, advisory committee, our talent pool, capabilities, digital and partnerships.
In 2012, SR Curio, the idea and business name was birthed by founder, Sofia Ramoi when she challenged herself to think about the legacy that she would leave in this world. What would she commit to on a lifelong journey to make an impact in her family, her community and the world. Since working with her first client during her studies at Bond University, Sofia began her journey after the Marketing Manager for the global telecommunications firm Digicel, reached out to her via Twitter to be a subcontractor for their upcoming Christmas campaign. She then spent time working on assignment with Media Playground and Masalai Communications before entering the entertainment industry as a Public Relations Consultant to the ARIA-Award Winning, Papua New Guinean raised band, Sheppard! During this time, Sofia managed a global team alongside her former colleague and mate, Cassandra Gundry, Copywriter Brittany George and Graphic Designer, Tom Parry. Through her mentorship by Papua New Guinean trailblazers such as one of Papua New Guinea’s lawyers Margareth Parua and prominent lawyer Greg Sheppard, OBE, Sofia has been able to add value to high-level campaigns such as the International Red Cross Committee’s global fundraising efforts in response to the Super Typhoon Haiyan. Her crisis communication work includes working alongside the Queens Counsel on the UBS and Oil Search legal case.
As a consultant with the World Bank Group, Sofia immersed herself to leverage her unique perspective to solve some of the world’s greatest problems. Following her consultancy with the World Bank Group, Sofia formally incorporated the social enterprise, SR Curio in 2016. During 2016 and 2017, Sofia embarked on a journey of spiritual growth, in which she was mentored and counselled by the founder of the Mustard Seed Chapel International (Port Moresby Apache), Reverend John Boffah.
In 2018, SR Curio secured its first clients, the award-winning hotel, Airways Hotel and then the Asia Pacific’s largest regional private sector arm, the APEC Business Advisory Council PNG Secretariat, through the Chairman, the late Mr. Wayne Golding, OBE. After successfully hosting the APEC CEO Summit, Sofia embarked on a sabbatical and immersion journey where she tested hypotheses to design a business model that tried to answer some of the key development issues in her community such as affordable housing. This led to SR Curio becoming a registered vendor with British American Tobacco and securing Gateway Children’s Fund as a client. Research through the concierge clients, led to SR Curio identifying the talent, skills, partnerships that will enable SR Curio scale its solutions to achieve its mission and vision.
